Lawmakers pull an all-nighter on Crossover Day

What is Crossover Day: The Georgia General Assembly meets for 40 legislative (voting) days each year. Legislative Day 28 is crossover day. This is the last day that a bill can be passed in one chamber in order to be sent to the next chamber. Bills that don’t get a floor vote by crossover day won’t be passed this session.

Why Does It Matter: Crossover Day gives us a clearer picture of which bills are likely to become law this year. Bills that cross the from the house to the senate and vice-versa could end up on the Governor’s desk. Bills that don’t, will die and will have to be resubmitted in the next legislative session.

Below is our live blog from Crossover Day. Scroll through to see some of the high points from Crossover Day.
