Scam Alert: The Gordon County Sheriff's office doesn't call asking residents for money

Gordon County residents say they have been receiving phone calls from a person identifying himself as “Deputy Marshall” or “Deputy Davis.” The caller attempts to collect fees or fines from the residents and is not affiliated in any way with the Gordon County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the Sheriff’s office, the caller has been threatening his targets with an arrest or a warrant and is targeting individuals and businesses with the calls.

The Sheriff’s Department is investigating the matter and would like to remind residents that the Gordon County Sheriff’s Department will never solicit or collect fines or fees by telephone. The department encourages residents not to engage the caller in conversation and to simply hang up the phone.
