Malnourished dog found in Roswell motel room

Roswell Police are searching for a 38-year-old man they say is wanted in connection with an animal cruelty case they investigated Wednesdays.

When police arrived at the Studio 6 Motel in Roswell, they rescued an emaciated dog that was locked in a plastic container with no access to food and water. The dog was first discovered by hotel housekeepers who were cleaning the room.

The dog was transported to secure emergency care at the Chattahoochee Animal Center for treatment.

Police have secured an aggravated animal cruelty warrant for Alton Coates, who police described as a 38-year-old black male, who is 5’7” tall and weighs about 187 pounds. He has short hair and a short beard. If anyone has information on Coates’ location, the Roswell police department requests they call 911 immediately.
