Police: Shooting outside polling location appears to be suicide

According to Fulton County officials, at about 11:30 a.m. on Election Day a voter in Atlanta was shot in the precinct parking lot after voting.

The poll manager at the polling location at Lindsay Street Baptist Church at 550 Lindsay St reported that a voter was shot in the church parking lot after leaving the poll.

According to Atlanta Police Dept. Public Affairs Officer Lisa Bender, officers on the scene found a deceased female on the scene. “The preliminary investigation indicates this was a suicide,” Bender said in a statement.

The parking lot to the voting precinct was blocked for a short time while police were on site, but the location remained accessible by foot.
