The Gist: If you live in Fulton County, your property taxes are likely going up. County officials have proposed a 7.9 percent increase in the property tax rate for Fulton residents.

The Numbers: Here’s a rundown of the numbers involved in this proposed increase and how it might affect homeowners.

  • Property taxes would increase by 7.9 percent.
  • The millage rate would go from 9.62 mills to 10.38 mills.
  • If you own a $125,000 home, you would pay $15.20 more per year in property taxes.
  • If you own a $275,000 home, you would pay $83.60 more per year in property taxes.

Your voice: The county commission has already held two public hearings on the tax increase July 11 at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. The next public hearing is August 1 at 10 a.m. You can attend the meeting at the Government Center Assembly Hall at 141 Pryor Street. in Atlanta or via video conference from the North Service Center Auditorium at 7741 Roswell Road in Sandy Springs. South Fulton residents can video conference at the South Service Center Auditorium at 5600 Stonewall Tell Road in College Park.
