In both local and national politics, debates and candidate forums are often the best opportunity for voters to get to know the candidates and to find out where they stand on the issues. In the coming weeks, gubernatorial candidates Brian Kemp and Stacey Abrams will face off in two televised debates.
The First Debate: The first debate is scheduled for October 23 and will be aired on Georgia Public Broadcasting at 7 p.m.
The Second Debate: The second debate will be held just two days prior to Election Day and will have a larger audience. That debate is Sunday, Nov. 4 and will air on WSB-TV Channel 2.
Why are the debates important?: While there is a level of entertainment value to debates and pundits tend to watch for impactful moments and gaffes, the debates give undecided voters a chance to learn more about each candidate’s positions and personality quickly. The debates can also provide insight into how a candidate performs under pressure, which allows voters a glimpse into how they could perform as governor.
