BET takes on voter suppression in Atlanta in new episode of 'Finding Justice'

BET announced today that a new episode of its series “Finding Justice” will focus on what the network calls voter suppression in Atlanta. Immediately following the episode, the network will air a town hall about criminal justice reform.

“Finding Justice” is a documentary series from Executive Producers Dwayne Johnson, Dany Garcia, and dream Hampton, thattravels the country to join heroes, leaders, and activists as they battle to bring healing and change to the cities they call home.

The 3rd installment of “Finding Justice,” airing March 24th at 8 PM ET/PT, will focus on voter suppression in Atlanta, GA. The cities featured in the series include Tampa, St. Louis, Atlanta, Los Angeles, the Twin Cities, and Baltimore. Each episode focuses on a different, appalling injustice afflicting the Black community in a specific city. The show goes beyond exploring the devastation caused by racial injustice and intimately follows real-life journeys toward change.

BET also recently announced the BET Networks Finding Justice Grants program that will see up to $100,000 prize shared among five non-profit organizations who are helping advance social justice in their community. The grants are designed to help organizations implement or expand nimble, proactive initiatives that help advance social justice, with a particular focus on the Black community.

Organizations can be considered for the BET Networks Finding Justice Grant by submitting their entry at http://www.bet.com/findingjusticegrants by 5:00PM ET on April 15, 2019.

Immediately following “Finding Justice,” BET News presents “AMERICAN INJUSTICE: A BET TOWN HALL.” Hosted and moderated by award-winning broadcast journalist, Soledad O’Brien, this critical and timely primetime special brings together some of the most influential voices in Congress to explore the future of criminal justice reform in America.

The panel of political heavyweights includes presidential candidates Senator Cory Booker and Senator Kamala Harris, and other key members of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) including Rep. Karen Bass (CBC Chair), and Rep. Val Demings.This one-hour special speaks to the stark racial disparities that plague America’s criminal justice system and offers solutions.

The town hall event airs Sunday, March 24 at 9:00 PM ET/PT on BET.
