A new survey put out by ASecureLife found that, statewide, Georgia has an arrest rate of 7% when it comes to burglaries.
Property crimes are notoriously difficult to solve. Delaware, which had the highest arrest rate for burglaries, only clocked in at 24%.
Nebraska was the lowest ranked state with 1%.
Burglary cost Americans roughly $3.4 billion in property loss in 2017, an average of $2,416 per household. Of those reported cases, only 13% were cleared.
According to the survey’s publishers, now is the time to think seriously about theft and property crimes because outside of the holidays, we are entering the highest time of the year for burglaries.
After the holidays, burglary is most common from June to August. About 64% of all burglaries and robberies happen during the daytime.
The most commonly stolen items are cash, jewelry and guns. Except in Washington D.C., where it’s office supplies.
