The Gist: Georgia voters learned the date they would be voting in the 2020 primary election this week and it isn’t Super Tuesday like most election years.
What is Super Tuesday?: You’ve probably heard the term Super Tuesday, but you may not know what it is. Super Tuesday refers to the first Tuesday in March, when a group of 13 states hold their presidential primaries.
When will Georgians vote?: Georgians will vote in the presidential primaries on March 24, 2020, three weeks after Super Tuesday.
Why the change: It does not appear that this will be a permanent change and it isn’t for a philosophical or political reason. The change centers around Georgia’s new voting machines. The state must replace its existing voting machines with a new voting system by March 31.
The state has not yet selected a vendor for the new system.
