Police arrest 80-year-old Georgia man for driving into a restaurant after a dispute with another customer

MACON — The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an Aggravated Assault with a Motor Vehicle that happened just after 4:30 p.m. June 30 at the 20’s Pub & Sub located at 3076 Riverside Drive.

Deputies responded to a call of a vehicle crashing into the business and then driving away.

According to the Sheriff’s office, 80-year-old Billy Wayne Goodwin, of Macon, had a verbal altercation with another customer. Goodwin left the business at that time without incident.

Witnesses told officers that Goodwin later returned to the business and — without stopping — drove his 2004 Chevy Colorado into the building, then backed out and drove into the shop again.

At the time of the incident the business was open and there were customers inside. Two people were taken to the Navicent Health Medical Center for treatment. Both of the two victims, 71-year-old Sammy Colvin and 57-year-old Carolyn Maples of Macon, are listed in stable condition at this time.

Everyone else was treated and released on the scene for minor injuries.

Deputies were able to track Goodwin to a residence on Marjane Drive where he was taken into custody without incident. Goodwin was taken to the Bibb County Jail and charged with six counts of Aggravated Assault with Motor Vehicle and one count of Felony Damage to Property. He is being held without bond at this time.

Police are asking anyone with information in reference to this incident to contact the Bibb Sheriff’s Office at 478-751 -7500, or Macon Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
