Georgia is ready to celebrate America. And according to a recent survey, residents in the state’s largest city are in the top ten when it comes to fireworks and fun.
A recent report released by the personal finance helper website WalletHub took a look at “2019’s Best and Worst Places for 4th of July Celebrations.”
Atlanta, Georgia, ranked as the seventh best city to party until you’re red, white, and blue. This ranking was based on several factors including affordability, attractions and activities, safety, accessibility and weather for each city’s Fourth of July celebration. For this poll, Wallethib gathered data from 100 of the largest U.S. cities.
New York City finished at the top of the list, followed by Los Angeles, San Diego, Washington D.C. and Las Vegas.
The study also estimated that $6.8 billion will be spent on food during the Fourth of July alone. A good portion of that will be spent on hot dogs. In 2019, Americans will eat an estimated 150 million hot dogs.
Americans plan to spend more than $1 billion on fireworks, according to Wallethub. About $5.4 billion will be spent on importing American flags, mostly from China. About $1.6 billion will be spent on beer and wine. And 47 million people who will travel more than 50 miles from home for the holiday.
