Duluth Highway in Gwinnett is about to be widened

The Gist: A road widening project in Gwinnett County will be adding lanes to Duluth Highway.

The Details: The project will widen Duluth Highway/West Pike Street, formerly known as State Route 120, from four to six lanes and add a concrete median between S.R. 316 and Hurricane Shoals that is about a half-mile. Turn lanes will be constructed at key intersections. The plans also call for sidewalks on both sides of the street.

Cost: The Gwinnett County Department of Transportation, in partnership with the Georgia Department of Transportation, is managing this project with a construction cost of $3.1 million. Gwinnett is contributing funding from the 2014 SPLOST program for engineering and right of way acquisition.

Learn More: Gwinnett residents can learn about a widening and median project on Duluth Highway/West Pike Street in Lawrenceville at a Public Information Open House Monday, Sept. 30 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center.

The open house will take place in the breezeway of the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center, located at 75 Langley Drive in Lawrenceville.

Timeline: The project is anticipated to begin construction in 2022 and take 12 to 18 months to finish.
