CUMMING — A man who came at police with a BB gun was shot and killed by Forsyth County Sheriff’s deputies after police chased him near Lake Lanier.

On Friday, Oct. 25, at about 4:20 a.m., the Georgia Bureau of Investigation was asked by the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office to conduct an officer involved shooting investigation at Georgia Highway 369 and Raines Drive.

At about 3:20 a.m., the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call for assistance from a woman who reported that her ex-husband, 31-year-old Anthony Viadero, of Cumming, was at her home in violation of a temporary protective order.

According to the GBI, the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office located Viadero and a pursuit ensued. Stop sticks were successfully deployed and eventually Viadero stopped his vehicle.

According to the GBI, Viadero exited his vehicle with a gun pointed at the officers and quickly advanced on the officer directly behind him with his gun drawn, despite verbal commands.

One officer fired at Viadero, striking him. Aid was given to Viadero and he was transported by ambulance to the hospital for treatment. Viadero was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

Information obtained from the early investigation shows that the gun that the subject had was a black BB gun with a laser sight.

An autopsy was performed today at the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office in Decatur.

Upon completion of the investigation, the case will be provided to the Bell-Forsyth Judicial Circuit District Attorney for review.

The deputy involved is a 32-year-old Hispanic Male who has been employed as a Deputy for four and half years. The Deputy has been placed on routine Administrative Leave as required by Sheriff’s Office policy.

Anthony Viadero is my son. He did not want to hurt anyone.
